CAU - ZMB Center
The new Center for Molecular Biosciences (ZMB) is fondly known as the “Amoeba”. The new interdisciplinary complex has been built on the campus of the Christian-Albrechts University (CAU) in Kiel (Germany). The layout consists of six circular arcs of varying sizes. The resulting concave-convex curved façade is clad with gold-painted AMBASCIATA expanded mesh and has an irregular, vibrant pattern of storey-high windows. These fluid forms, created using adjacent expanded mesh panels, are reminiscent of amoebae (single-cell shape-changing organisms).
